It’s January 1st.
Or April 3rd.
Whatever day it is, you’ve just set your new weight loss goal.
You decided not to give up on your dream of looking amazing in that black bikini on your vacation to Hawaii this year.
You picked a number and you’ve set your end date.
What do you do AFTER you’ve set your weight loss goal?
Some will tell you to pick an exercise plan. Others will you tell you to order the newest diet shakes to be delivered to your door asap.
And those are definitely options.
As for me, I like to do something totally out there.
I think about what’s going to be SUPER challenging and difficult about the entire weight loss journey.
No joke. This is exactly what I do after I set my goal.
I ask myself, with ZERO judgement, what will get in the way of hitting my goal.
What will get in the way of me BECOMING the person who weighs my goal weight?
And then I write and write and write. I let it all out.
I go to the place of complete disbelief and write down all the reasons why it’s NOT going to happen and why it’s just not possible.
Have you ever done this? It’s liberating, let me tell you.
(It’s kind of like actually letting your toddler have their tantrum. They’ll eventually cry it all out and then settle down.)
Once I’m finished writing all of the problems that are going to come up for my goal, I then put my pen down and walk away.
I take a walk, play with my dog, put the dishes away. I give my brain a break.
And then I go right back to that list of challenges and obstacles and start my playbook.
I think about those obstacles that are going to come at me and write down everything I’m going to do to stand my ground, to overcome, to win that battle.
I write down every strategy necessary for those challenges.
For every reason I wrote that I WON’T hit my goal, I create a strategy to overcome it.
And then lastly,
and this is the most important part,
I take what I’ve written down, my playbook, and put it into action.
I schedule everything and make my strategies happen.
What’s the point in a playbook to win if you don’t USE the playbook?
Creating obstacles and strategies will blow your mind.
Putting those strategies into action will blow your goal right out of the water. I promise.
