Lessons From The Impossible

I’ll keep this one short and simple.  Here are a few lessons I have personally learned on this journey of achieving an impossible goal.  Many of these may sound like I found them in a motivational or personal development book, and you may be able to find these in many books, but I assure you I have found these to be true for me even in just this first quarter of the year.  

Lessons Learned

  • It’s better to aim high and land somewhere in the middle than to aim low and land low.
  • Even having an impossible goal can change your outlook on life whether you achieve your goal or not.
  • You can do more than you think you can just by having the idea and making some plans.
  • Take it one action at a time. You’ll still get where you’re going, and maybe even faster than if you’re trying to do ten things at once.
  • Just working on believing in something has a huge payoff.
  • Taking action and failing will get you places faster than waiting to take action until something is perfect.
  • Not everyone will jump on board with you…and that’s ok.
  • God wants us to believe in the impossible and to try to do the impossible because it causes us to truly lean on Him and not on ourselves.
  • I can do hard things.
  • The mind is really freaking powerful.

And by far the hardest but most rewarding lesson I’ve learned so far this year:

I can keep trying even though I know I’m probably going to fail.  

This one was key for me in the beginning and I think will continue to be key for me as the year goes on.  I wanted to give up early on because I had procrastinated on so many things at the beginning of the year. But someone advised me to try and meet all my expectations in spite of the possibility that I’ll fail.  Why fail before I even tried? Why not try and reap whatever rewards and lessons there are to be gained even though I might still fail??? Boom. Mind blown.
